Audible is among the largest players in the audiobook segment offering hundreds of thousands of titles to listen to. That’s plenty of options covering all genres of books along with podcasts, originals, and so much more. That should be reason enough to sign up for an Audible account though the good thing here is that you can opt for a free trial to try out the service before you decide to actually put down your money on it. But before we get to that, there are a few things we need to clear up a bit.
For one, it isn’t an absolute necessity to become a paid member to use the service. Rather, you can still buy and listen to audiobooks even if you aren’t a member. That said, becoming a member has its own perks. For instance, Audible offers an exclusive collection that is available only to paid members. That apart, audiobook prices too are discounted for members. Plus, you get monthly credit too, which you can redeem for any audiobook irrespective of what it costs.

Further, there are two subscription tiers available on Audible – Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus. With Audible Plus, you get an almost exhaustive collection of audio content which include audiobooks, podcasts, and other short-form audio material. The Premium Plus tier will let you have the same benefits as the Premium tier along with something more. That includes discounted audiobook prices, access to exclusive content, and two monthly credits.
Audible membership charges
Charges include $7.95 per month for the Premium tier along with a monthly $14.95 for the Premium Plus membership program. However, Amazon offers discounts and other offers every now and then with the Audible subscription rates. The free trial period too varies often and on. Check for the latest offers and freebies before signing up.
Audible sign-up process
The sign-up process is simple and quick. Here are the steps.
- Go to Amazon.com or Audible.com via any browser.
- Create an account if you don’t have one or log in if you already have an Amazon account.
- For pricing information, refer to the ‘Plans & Pricing’ section in the top left corner.
- Scroll down to find the trial options.
- Select the option that suits you best and click on ‘Start my free trial’.
- For the payment method, select ‘Try for $0.00’.
That’s it. You will have all the benefits of being a regular paid member for a certain period of time. Plus, you also get a credit which, as already stated, will let you redeem the same for an audiobook of your choice. Amazon Prime members are eligible for two credits.
