Amazon bans itself from Twitch after streamer violates TOS

February 12, 2023 by Sovan Mandal Leave a Comment

The Twitch platform, a subsidiary of Amazon, has banned the Amazon Prime España channel from its platform due to a violation of its Terms of Service during a live stream BBC reported.

The Twitch channel for Amazon Prime Spain, Prime España, has been removed from the platform due to reasons that have not been officially stated by either Twitch or Prime España. However, it is speculated that the ban may have resulted from a host’s violation of the platform’s terms of service during a live stream.

It is surprising that Amazon, the parent company of Twitch, would effectively ban one of its own platforms. The violation occurred during a segment of the late-night talk show “Esto es un Late.” During the show, one of the hosts, comedian and writer Alvarez, lifted her shirt to briefly expose her nipple on camera. Prior to this incident, she had joked about using nudity as a way to end the hours-long stream.

The ban was however lifted after a brief duration of less than 24 hours and the controversial broadcast has been removed from the channel. Twitch has strict policies against nudity and frequently imposes temporary bans on streamers who violate these policies, even in instances of brief exposure.

As the Esto Es Un Late stream on the Amazon Prime España channel approached its conclusion, things started to go a bit way wayward. Towards the end of the stream, Henar Alvarez was heard saying “We’re going for the ban” and “Let’s go, they’ll ban us” before proceeding to lift her shirt. The camera momentarily cut away, but when it returned to Alvarez, she repeated the action. The stream abruptly ended thereafter with a “Thank you for watching” title appearing on the screen.

With a keen interest in tech, I make it a point to keep myself updated on the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. That includes smartphones or tablet devices but stretches to even AI and self-driven automobiles as well, the latter being my latest fad. Besides writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music, or experimenting with different recipes. Motion picture is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I’ll make a film sometime in the future.
